THE NORTHWEST FILM CHALLENGE

Have you always wanted to make a film but were never really sure where to start?

Learn how to creatively re-use archival footage and basic filmmaking skills with our Northwest Film Challenge in association with Northern Ireland Screen and PRONI.

You will make a 3-minute film to premiere at Rathmullan Film Festival 2023 with the help of industry experts through a series of online workshops in the lead-up to the event. There will be a cash prize for the best film.

The virtual workshop dates are:

  • Saturday, 21st January - 10am-3pm

  • Monday, 23rd January - 7-8pm

  • Wednesday, 25th January - 7-8pm

  • Saturday, 28th January - 10am-3pm

The Launch Event is taking place as a dog-friendly screening on Sunday 19th February, 5.30-7.30pm, during the Rathmullan Film Festival at the Beachcomber Bar.

Northwest Film Challenge is a great way for you to get into filmmaking, improve your filmmaking skills and get involved with the festival in a unique and creative way.

This challenge is open to anyone over 18 and you must be based in counties Donegal and Derry and available to attend all (or most) sessions.

Limited spaces available, we encourage you to book your spot as soon as possible:
