It's that time of the year again! Rathmullan Film Festival is back!
Book early to avoid disappointment as events are likely to sell out fast.
We also have a number of free events and these do not require pre-booking. Just turn up and have a wonderful time!

Pixilation Animation Workshop
20 Feb | 10am-1pm | St Joseph’s N.S. | 9-14Yrs - Slide, fly and drive chairs around the studio to create a surreal chase film where the laws of physics and the real world no longer apply. Cormac O'Kane, award-winning Animation Lecturer at LYIT will teach the ins and outs of Pixilation, a stop-motion technique which uses people instead of puppets.

20 Feb | 10am-1pm | St Joseph’s N.S. | 5-9Yrs - Build your favorite movie character using recycling material and bring your new friend along with you to watch Pinocchio (1940, 88min, PG) about a living puppet who, with the help of a cricket as his conscience, must prove himself worthy to become a real boy. Workshop from 10-11am and must be pre-booked as places are limited. Screening starts at 11.15am, it is FREE and open to everyone. No pre-booking needed.

Chicken Run (2000, 84min, PG) tells the story of rooster Rocky and chicken Ginger who decide to escape from a chicken farm when they learn that their owner is plotting to have them killed. 22 Feb | An Bonnan Bui Café & Bistro | 11.30am-1.30pm - Directed by Carlos Pronzato and Richardson Pontone, Lama (2019, 80min, subtitled) gives voice to those affected directly and indirectly by the Brumadinho tailings dam disaster caused by mining activities in Brazil in 2019. 250 people lost their lives and damage was caused to the local fauna and flora. The screening is followed by a discussion.

Irish filmmaker Treasa O'Brien will screen a selection of her work -Town of Strangers (2018, 80min), Noor at Mytilini Port (2016, 6min) and The Blow-in (2016, 8min) - and discuss her filming methods, relationship with interviewees and audience responses.

Festival director Robert Fitzhugh and Donegal-based smartphone filmmaking trainer Camilla Meegan, from Poca Productions, will explore the different types of equipment, their strengths and limitations, and how smartphones are bringing new possibilities to businesses and creative industries.

Enjoy a movie songs sing-along with the Colmcille Gospel Choir before the screening of the beautiful Irish documentary The Camino Voyage (2018, 97min, PG). The film follows musicians Glen Hansard and Brendan Begley, artist Liam Holden, stonemason Brendan-Pháid Moriarty and writer and poet Danny Sheehy on their inspiring and dangerous 2,500 kilometre boat odyssey from Ireland to Spain.
