 It's that time of the year again! Rathmullan Film Festival is back! 

Book early to avoid disappointment as events are likely to sell out fast.

 

We also have a number of free events and these do not require pre-booking. Just turn up and have a wonderful time!

  • Pixilation Animation Workshop

    €10

    20 Feb | 10am-1pm | St Joseph’s N.S. | 9-14Yrs - Slide, fly and drive chairs around the studio to create a surreal chase film where the laws of physics and the real world no longer apply. Cormac O'Kane, award-winning Animation Lecturer at LYIT will teach the ins and outs of Pixilation, a stop-motion technique which uses people instead of puppets.

  • Build A Character Workshop

    20 Feb | 10am-1pm | St Joseph’s N.S. | 5-9Yrs - Build your favorite movie character using recycling material and bring your new friend along with you to watch Pinocchio (1940, 88min, PG) about a living puppet who, with the help of a cricket as his conscience, must prove himself worthy to become a real boy. Workshop from 10-11am and must be pre-booked as places are limited. Screening starts at 11.15am, it is FREE and open to everyone. No pre-booking needed.

Put on your favourite super hero costume, take a walk down our red carpet & join us for a celebration of local creativity.You will be treated to face painting, virtual reality & green screen fun, followed by a screening of short films featuring children from the Rathmullan Celtic Academy, St Garvan’s N.S. & St Joseph’s N.S. Tea, coffee & sweet treats for all.

Learn how to use smartphone technology to produce films using industry standard techniques with Póca Productions. Explore the various roles on a film set and how to shoot and edit a scene on a mobile device.

  • Clay Modelling Workshop

    21 Feb | 10am-1pm | St Joseph’s N.S | 5-9Yrs - Join Susan Harding, Pixalili Fabric POD, for a pre-screening workshop where you will make, shape and build your very own clay character. Chicken Run (2000, 84min, PG) tells the story of rooster Rocky and chicken Ginger who decide to escape from a chicken farm when they learn that their owner is plotting to have them killed. Workshop from 10-11.00am and must be pre-booked. FREE Screening starts at 11.15am and doesn't require pre-booking.

Written and directed by Prince, Under the Cherry Moon (1986, 100min, 15A) tells the story of a trust-fund beauty and the pianist at a hotel in Nice on the Riviera. A film that is ‘so delightfully deranged that you stare at it in amazement that such a thing could have possibly emerged from a Hollywood studio.” (Peter Sobczynski, May 4, 2016).   • Frida & The Arty Quiz

    21 Feb | 8-11pm | An Bonnan Bui Café & Bistro - Directed by Julie Taymor and starred by Salma Hayek, Frida (2002, 123min, 15A) charts the life of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, who channelled the pain of a crippling injury and her tempestuous marriage into her work. The film will be followed by The Arty Quiz where Shelagh Cullity, Art Historian, will test your knowledge of art, from cup cake depictions of famous paintings to names of artists.
